Briumvi® (ublituximab-xiiy) is a monoclonal antibody therapy used to treat adults with relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis (MS), including clinically isolated syndrome, relapsing-remitting disease, and active secondary progressive disease. It belongs to a group of medications called anti-CD20 therapies, which are designed to target and reduce B cells — immune cells that play a major role in the body's attack on the nervous system in MS.

In multiple sclerosis (MS), the immune system mistakenly attacks the myelin sheath — the protective layer surrounding nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. When the myelin is damaged, nerve signals are disrupted, which can cause symptoms affecting coordination, balance, movement, speech, vision, and even bowel function.
One of the main immune cells involved in this damaging process is the B cell, which carries a marker known as CD20 on its surface. Briumvi works by:
What makes Briumvi unique among anti-CD20 therapies is its engineered structure, which allows for faster infusion times compared to some other B-cell depleting medications.
While Briumvi does not cure MS, it helps reduce inflammation and slow the disease's progression by preventing B cells from causing further attacks on the nervous system. Briumvi begins working in your body within 24 hours of the first infusion, but it typically takes several weeks to months to observe its full effect in reducing relapses and disease progression. Clinical studies demonstrating significant results evaluated patients over 96 weeks (nearly two years), with long-term data now available showing sustained benefits up to six years. Most patients can expect to see a reduction in relapse frequency and a slowing of disability progression as the medication takes full effect.
