Vyvgart® (efgartigimod alfa-fcab) treats generalized myasthenia gravis, often shortened to gMG, in adults who test positive for AChR antibodies. Your doctor can tell you whether you are from a blood test.
In myasthenia gravis, your muscles get weak and tire out quickly. It can affect walking, lifting things, speaking, swallowing, and moving your eyes. Symptoms often get worse the more you use a muscle and better when you rest.
Vyvgart is given in rounds, not on an endless schedule. One round is 4 weekly treatments. Then you take a break.
Here is what a round looks like:
Everyone's timing is different. Some people need their next round sooner than others. Keeping track of how you feel between rounds is the best way to help your neurologist decide when to start again.
Your muscles move when your nerves send them a signal. In myasthenia gravis, your immune system makes proteins called antibodies that block those signals. Your muscles never get the message, so they feel weak and tired.
Your body normally recycles antibodies so they can keep working for a long time. A receptor called FcRn does that recycling job.
The problem is that FcRn recycles the harmful antibodies too. It keeps them in your blood instead of clearing them out.

Many people notice more strength and energy during their first round, though this varies from person to person.
Vyvgart is not a cure. It manages your symptoms. The benefit usually builds during a round and then fades before the next one, which is a normal part of how it works.
