Ultomiris® (ravulizumab-cwvz) is a long-acting C5 complement inhibitor prescribed for the treatment of paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH) and atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome (aHUS), two rare complement-mediated diseases.
It is a humanized monoclonal antibody engineered to reduce the chance of immune response in patients while maintaining strong therapeutic efficacy.
Ultomiris® targets and inhibits the C5 protein, a key player in the complement system — part of the immune system that can become overactive in conditions like PNH and aHUS. This overactivity destroys red blood cells and damages blood vessels.
By blocking C5, Ultomiris® prevents this immune overactivation, helping preserve red blood cells, protect blood vessels, and manage symptoms effectively.
