Vyvgart Hytrulo® has the same medicine in it as Vyvgart. The difference is how you get it. Vyvgart goes into a vein through an IV and takes about an hour. Vyvgart Hytrulo is a shot under the skin that takes 30 to 90 seconds.
It treats two conditions in adults: generalized myasthenia gravis (gMG), and a nerve condition called CIDP. For CIDP, it was the first treatment with a new approach in more than 30 years.
Here is what treatment looks like:
If you have CIDP, there is a version you can give yourself at home using a prefilled syringe. It takes about 20 to 30 seconds. Not everyone is a good fit for this, so ask your neurologist whether it makes sense for you. If you do switch to home treatment, we still handle your training, monitoring, and follow-up visits.
Antibodies are proteins your immune system makes to fight off germs. Sometimes your body makes antibodies that attack your own tissue by mistake. That is what happens in both of the conditions this drug treats.
In myasthenia gravis, those antibodies block the signals between your nerves and your muscles, so your muscles feel weak.
In CIDP, they attack the protective coating around the nerves in your arms and legs. That causes weakness, numbness, and tingling.
Your body normally recycles antibodies using a receptor called FcRn. The problem is that FcRn recycles the harmful ones too.
Here is what it does:
In a CIDP study called ADHERE, people on this treatment went significantly longer before their symptoms got worse, compared to people who were not on it.
For myasthenia gravis, it works about the same as the IV version.
Your neurologist will check your progress with simple strength and function tests, and will also ask how you are doing with everyday things. Both matter.
