Vyepti® (eptinezumab-jjmr) is an IV infusion treatment for adults designed to prevent migraine attacks before they start. It works by blocking calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP), a protein that contributes to migraine pain and inflammation in the brain. By inhibiting CGRP, Vyepti® helps reduce the frequency, intensity, and duration of migraine episodes.
Vyepti is FDA-approved for the preventive treatment of migraine in adults with both episodic migraine (fewer than 15 headache days per month) and chronic migraine (15 or more headache days per month). It's particularly beneficial for patients who have not found adequate relief with or cannot tolerate oral preventive medications.
What makes Vyepti unique among migraine preventive treatments is its delivery method and dosing schedule. Unlike oral CGRP medications that require daily pills or injectable CGRP inhibitors that require monthly self-injections, Vyepti is administered as an IV infusion just once every 3 months at a healthcare facility.
